Days before solar panel maker Solyndra filed for bankruptcy protection, the Obama Administration considered another debt restructuring that would have made the U.S. government a 40 percent owner of the company, the New York Times reported. The plan was discussed in email messages provided to House investigators.

Lazard, the same firm hired by the Energy Departmentto evaluate options after Solyndra had borrowed almost all of a $535 million line of credit extended by the government, drafted the reorganization plan. According to NYT, the government would have converted the amount it was owed into equity.

Dana Hull of the San Jose Mercury News uncovered all sorts of troubling information tucked inside Solyndra’s bankruptcy documents. For example, more than a dozen senior execs collected bonuses up to $60,000 apieceas the company was hemmoraging cash and was well on its way towards bankruptcy. A couple of months after the last round of bonuses were distributed, Solyndra filed for bankruptcy and about 1,100 employees were laid off with severance pay.

Massachusetts-based renewable energy start-up Beacon Power now has the distinction of being the second U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) loan guarantee recipient to file for bankruptcy this year.

In August 2010, the company closed a US$43 million DOE loan for 20MW flywheel energy storage facility near Albany, New York. The facility will remain operating to fulfill long-term contracts as the company reorganizes under bankruptcy protection.

Beacon Power’s Smart Energy Matrix energy storage technology was promising to regulate and stabilize the power grid for the addition of renewable energy sources. It is now a looming embarrassment for the Obama Administration.

The Democrat clashed with Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi over their push for a health care overhaul, refusing to sign onto the bill until the last moment. Earlier this year,Cardoza and neighboring California Rep. Jim Costa, a fellow Blue Dog, raised eyebrows when they refused to vote for Pelosi as House Democratic leader – instead casting votes for each other.

“They essentially felt they were getting a lot of lip service,” said one former House Democratic aide who was close to Cardoza. “They were frustrated with the leadership in the House and in the White House.”

The slow decline of the Blue Dog caucus weighed on Cardoza. After the 2010 midterm elections, their ranks were cut in half, dwindling from 54 to 25, and already this year two additional members, Oklahoma Rep. Dan Boren and Arkansas Rep. Mike Ross, have announced their retirements.

In his Thursday statement, the California congressman concluded with this warning

“After nearly 20 years in elected office, I offer this advice: Voters need to reward statesmanship. Too many Americans are losing faith in our government and our democracy,” he said. “For our country to change course, voters must aggressively punish extreme partisanship and rhetoric when they cast their ballots. The United States of America is too great a nation for us not to demand excellence in our leaders.”

It nominated a candidate for president from 1924 through 1984, sometimes with funding from the communist Soviet Union. With the collapse of the Soviet Union it became a hollow shell and has urged voters to support the Democratic Party.^[1]

One thing is clear. None of the people’s struggles — from peace to universal health care to an economy that puts Main Street before Wall Street — will advance if McCain wins in November.

Let’s keep our eyes on the prize.

That’s right.  The COMMUNIST PARTY OF THE UNITED STATES...WANTS PRESIDENT OBAMA AS OUR PRESIDENT.

In 2009, as the financial crisis hit, the bank received a vote of confidence from the federal government when it won a $50.2 million loan under the federal Trouble Assets Relief Program -- money earmarked for healthy banks.

"It is hard to imagine a more obviously reckless and foolish use of TARP funds than U.S. Century in 2009," said Richard Newsom, a former FDIC bank examiner who has looked at the bank's public financials. "Contrary to TARP guidelines, this bank was in deep, likely fatal, trouble when it received TARP funds. It should have been subject to an enforcement action in mid-2009, not awarded $50 million in taxpayer dollars."

Indeed, almost as soon as U.S. Century received the TARP money, its financials plummeted. Net income plunged to negative $44 million by the end of the 2009. Loan losses went up to $186 million from $108 million in September.

Within three months of U.S. Century receiving the TARP funds in August 2009, Treasury officials were exchanging emails discussing the likelihood that the bank would not make its first dividend payment. The bank paid a dividend of $745,312 to the Treasury Department that November, but as of June 2011 it had missed more than $4 million in payments to Treasury, according to a report from the TARP inspector general.

The FDIC wouldn't release information about its examination of U.S. Century, making it hard to know whether the agency had concerns about the bank's health of U.S. Century or to evaluate the merits of granting the TARP loan.

The FDIC also wouldn't say whether any enforcement agreement existed with the bank before the June 2011 consent order.

The FDIC does not comment on an "open and operating" bank nor on TARP deliberations, spokesman David Barr said. As for U.S. Century's TARP loan, he said, "it is Treasury that makes the ultimate decision on TARP funding."

A spokesman for the Treasury Department said, "As a matter of practice, we don't comment on specific institutions." 

Since receiving the TARP loan in 2009, U.S. Century has been sliding sharply downward

The Texas ratio, a formula that measures nonperforming assets against capital and reserves, is 237 percent, compared to 26 percent for the bank's peer group.  

"When the 'Texas ratio' substantially exceeds 100 percent, there is a high correlation with future failure," said Newsom, the former FDIC bank examiner.  

The FDIC consent order mandates that U.S. Century increase its total capital by a little more than $57 million, according to a review by banking analyst Trepp. This does not include the $50.2 million it also owes TARP. 

If the bank does not comply with the FDIC mandates or is unable to raise capital, it could be pushed into a forced sale or taken over by the FDIC. Either way, the agency would probably end up taking losses on the bad loans in addition to the $50.2 million in TARP money that taxpayers would lose.

The city council of Hartford, Conn., has unanimously approved an ordinance that prohibits police and city employees from asking people about their immigration status.

Terry Johnson, sheriff of Alamance County, N.C., showed a photo of an illegal alien who had been executed in his jurisdiction. Johnson also showed a photo of a large quantity of weapons that had been found and seized by law enforcement from members of a Mexican drug cartel in a car obtained in his county.

In a 2008 report on illegal alien gang activity in the United States by Vaughan and Jon D. Feere, the summary lays out the threat these gangs pose to the country.

“Immigrant gangs are considered a unique public safety threat due to their members’ propensity for violence and their involvement in transnational crime,” the report states. “The latest national gang threat assessment noted that Hispanic gang membership has been growing, especially in the Northeast and the South, and that areas with new immigrant populations are especially vulnerable to gang activity.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) failed to identify more than 800 criminal alien convicts eligible for deportation before they were released from U.S. prisons, including “many” of  “the most egregious criminal aliens, who pose a significant pubic safety risk,” according to a report by the Inspector General for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).  cns article by Edwin Mora, February 9, 2011  He continued the story:

“Many of the 890 criminals are believed to have been Level 1 recidivist criminals,” the report added. “Level 1 are the most egregious criminal aliens, who pose a significant pubic safety risk.”

After conducting a 12 month in-depth study of illegal immigrants who committed sex crimes and murders for the time period of January 1999 through April 2006 , it is clear that the U.S. public faces a dangerous threat from sex predators who cross the U.S. borders illegally.

Based on population numbers of 12,000,000 illegal immigrants and the fact that young males make up more of this population than the general U.S. population, sex offenders in the illegal immigrant group make up a higher percentage. When examining ICE reports and public records, it is consistent to find sex offenders comprising 2% of illegals apprehended. Based on this 2% figure, which is conservative, there are approximately 240,000 illegal immigrant sex offenders in the United States.

This translates to 93 sex offenders and 12 serial sexual offenders coming across U.S. borders illegally per day. The 1500 offenders in this study had a total of 5,999 victims. Each sex offender averaged 4 victims. This places the estimate for victimization numbers around 960,000 for the 88 months examined in this study.

...There was an especially disturbing finding that in 22% of all sex crimes committed by illegal immigrants, victims with physical and mental disabilities were targeted. These disabled victims were each under age 18. In those cases, the perpetrators knew their victims....

The next most likely victims were African American women, and other nationalities comprised the remainder. These women suffered brutal attacks. 

Commonly, a weapon was used to control the victims. These weapons were most often sharp instruments. And the victims were beaten during the rapes over 70% of the time. Offenders engaged in sodomy in 67% of the attacks, and gang rape took place in .007% of the cases. Rape victims ranged in age from 16-79 and averaged age 23

The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally.

National Review Online: 1/04, 2011:  Even without counting most unfunded liabilities, the national debt is now calculated to be nearing $14.1 trillion. It increases about $4.22 billion per day (each citizen’s share stands at roughly $45K). Thus, Democrats will soon demand that the debt ceiling be raised, lest the sky fall. When they do, they will be asking for a significant boost in a ceiling that is already 60 percent higher than the one Barack Obama said was “a sign of leadership failure” five years ago.

In summary, the debt cycle may be seen as a cycle in which, ever increasing amounts of income are used to pay back debts. This can often result in an individual accruing further debts to service existing loans and other forms of credit. Breaking the debt cycle can mean difficult lifestyle changes however, the results are that over a prolonged period debt can be reduced at an increasing rate and an individual can become debt-free.

"It has been bantered about, mostly by academics, that a debt ceiling is really an arbitrary construct since it gets ignored and raised whenever we reach it, it could just as easily be discontinued. This short sighted opinion evidently proceeds from those who think there are humans willing to ignore the reality of the necessity for a debt ceiling. Why is a debt ceiling necessary? It is the only vehicle in existence to bring attention to the politicians that their spending cannot continue beyond a certain limit. This limit is not some arbitrary construct that can be defined by some "Super" legislative mob, but is grounded in fiscal reality."

Senator Tom Coburn states:...we can start with small steps. Congress and the president could work together tomorrow to cut at least $100 billion – and probably much more – in duplicative spending the Government Accountability Office identified earlier this year.  The GAO report was enthusiastically embraced on both sides of the aisle yet Congress has done absolutely nothing to act on those recommendations.  We don’t need a super committee to tell us we would be better off with one job training program that worked instead 47 that don’t work.”

Emails obtained by investigators for the House Energy and Commerce Committee and released to ABC News demonstrate how deeply involved the White House was at the highest levels in fast-tracking the approval of the politically well connected start-up in direct conflict with numerous private as well as government warnings that the survival of the company was very doubtful.

On March 10, 2009 according to ABC a White House budget analyst warned in an email that "This deal is NOT ready for prime time."

 That followed an email from Ronald A. Klain, Chief of Staff to the Vice-President on March 7 that said, "If you guys think this is a bad idea, I need to unwind the W[est] W[ing] QUICKLY." 

I believe that the Social Security program needs an overhaul...by a board of scrutinizers picked and paid for by citizens, not by GOVERNMENT.

However, unlike private sector workers who pay Social Security taxes with private-sector dollars, government workers pay their payroll taxes out of wages government pays them with tax dollars or with money that was borrowed by government ...

and taxpayers must eventually repay.

The 93.641 million full-time private sector workers last year worked out to 1.75 for each person receiving Social Security benefits.

Prior to 1983, states and localities could legally opt their employees out of the Social Security system. In 1981, for example, the employees of Galveston County, Texas, voted 78 percent to 22 percent to opt out of the Social Security system for a locally run retirement plan. Brazoria and Matagorda counties in Texas also opted out of Social Security.

WHERE IS THE DEBT COMMITTEE GOING TO FIND $2 TRILLION TO CUT?

WHAT IS OUR ATTITUDE GOING TO SAY IN THE FUTURE OF THE WORLD:  ARE WE GOING TO REMAIN SENDING OUR YOUTH AND CITIZENS INTO WAR FOR ETERNITY?

33% OF EUROPEANS VS 75% OF AMERICANS IS A HUGE, VAST DIFFERENCE!  COULD AMERICAN WAR THEOLOGY BE WRONG? 

The German Marshall Fund has released data from its annual Transatlantic Trends survey. The most striking finding: “there remains a very strong transatlantic difference of opinion over whether war is sometimes necessary to obtain justice, with 75% of U.S. participants  agreeing with that concept compared to only 33% of European participants.” 

64% of Americans favor spending cuts.  Not increases spending by $447 Billion, as proposed by Obama.

A sizable majority still favors across-the-board spending cuts in the federal budget, but voters remain slightly less enthusiastic about including the military in those cuts.

In very round numbers, the package comes to $250 billion of temporary payroll tax cuts of one kind or another, with another $200 billion in new spending on infrastructure, unemployment benefits, and direct aid to state and local governments. But didn’t we learn from Obama Stimulus One that more government spending doesn’t grow the economy or reduce unemployment?

And while more than half of the president’s new package is called “tax cuts,” the reality is that these are temporary tax cuts. Even though tax rates are reduced for both employers and employees, it’s just for one year.

That blunts the true incentive impact of the tax cuts. Businesses like to look ahead at least three to five years for their employment planning. And they’re already worried about the tax and regulatory mandate costs of Obamacare, which has become a great deterrent to job creation. But nobody makes clear business decisions based on temporary one-year tax cuts. That’s not the way business works.

WHAT IS NEW?  WE HAVE SEEN THIS PRESIDENT IN ACTION, NOW HE PRESENTS HIS AMERICAN JOBS ACT, BUT TOO MUCH GAME PLAYING BY OBAMA, MAKES EVERYTHING HE DOES QUESTIONABLE.  THIS PRESIDENT HAS COMPLETE DISREGARD FOR THE OFFICE HE HOLDS AND THE CONSTITUTION

CONSIDER HIS REQUEST TO ADDRESS CONGRESS:

Obama's request was regarded as a clever move by some wiseguys in the left blogosphere because that was the exact time of a long-scheduled Republican presidential candidate debate at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. Take that, you guys!

But Boehner smoothly responded that with Congress reconvening late that afternoon, the security sweep necessary for a presidential visit would be impossible and invited the president to speak Thursday. White House officials quickly agreed, scheduling the speech at 7 p.m. EDT to avoid overlap with the first game of the National Football League season.

Not such a big deal, some people are saying. I disagree. I think it illustrates several of the weaknesses of this presidency.

Obama has been so consistently blaming Republicans in recent months for not approving the free trade agreements with South Korea, Colombia and Panama that it came as an utter surprise to his deputy press secretary, Josh Earnest, that he hasn't sent them to Congress yet.

Another weakness on display was contempt for public opinion.

A third Obama weakness is his propensity to charge his political opponents with playing politics when he is doing exactly that himself.

The fourth weakness is failure to come up with policies that address situations appropriately.

ARE THE PAYOFFS WORTH $447 bILLION?

TWO PROPOSALS IN PRESIDENT OBAMA'S SPEECH TO A JOINT SESSION OF CONGRESS ON THURSDAY WOULD HAVE THE MOST DIRECT IMPACT ON THE BANKING INDUSTRY.

As was widely anticipated, the legislation will include a national infrastructure bank, an idea that Obama has been talking about since the 2008 presidential campaign. So far it has failed to attract sufficient Republican support in Congress.

Banks have also been chilly to the idea, arguing that it would either subsidize projects that the private sector would have financed anyway, or pay for boondoggles that don't justify the investment on an economic basis.

In late July, California's Governor Jerry Brown signed into law AB 130, which gives illegal immigrants in the state the ability to apply for privately funded scholarships to public colleges and universities.

"... The problem with the Dream Act is that you have folks who are not citizens, who are not actually members of the community, [but] who are able to receive funds that are forcibly taken -- or [by] threat of force -- from individuals through taxes, and then redistributed to other people."

The bill is expected to pass the state Assembly shortly, and Governor Brown is expected to sign it into law.

Solyndra recieved one of 31 Federal Loan Guarantees provided by the Us Department of Energy and backed by nearly  $4 Billion Dollars of STIMULUS FUNDS  

 In additional funds passed out, of our "stimulus money, in April, the Federal Government approved $1.6 Billion in STIMULUS FUNDED LOAN GUARANTEES for Bright Source Energy..  

In June, President Obama named John Bryson to the post of  COMMERCE SECRETARY

Michael Boyd, President of the Non-Profit Californian for Renewable Energy said " Stimulus Money is not going to jobs here in the us, it is going to jobs overseas."

Most of the equipment of one recipient, Bright Source, is made in China and Germany.

A Bloomberg news investigation found that while the Treasury Department was pumping $700 billion into banks under the Troubled Asset Relief Program, the Fed was covertly operating its own bailout program – the biggest in American history. The Fed’s Shadow TARP issued $1.2 trillion in loans to domestic and foreign banks from 2007 to 2010, far more than Congress authorized Treasury to spend under TARP.

Warning President Barack Obama against more government red tape, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday unveiled a jobs package based on infrastructure spending, developing domestic energy, trade deals and a lighter regulatory footprint.                               

Randy Johnson, the Chamber’s senior vice president said..."regulations...do not fuel job growth, except for lawyers and consultants.   He also said...'

speaking about regulations, he said...

“It indicates the arrogance of these agencies as they pump out these new initiatives,” he said.

Chamber CEO Tom Donohue called on Obama to sign an executive order directing agencies not to issue discretionary rules. 

Speaking of the Administration, Johnson said..(that the)...issuance of new regulations has prevented the kind of hiring needed to bring down unemployment from 9.1 percent.

Though they are advantaged by the Obama administration’s increasing unwillingness to fund our defense, our economic instability threatens one of the foundations of the regime. As the Pentagon report says, continued economic development is, to Beijing, a “bedrock of social stability” as well as the means of underwriting the rapid expansion of Chinese military power. They believe that any economic slump could undermine their hold on domestic power.

He has proposed...   that Texas's four-year institutions develop a plan to offer bachelor's degrees for no more than $10,000.                                                    

President Obama suggests digging ourselves ever deeper into debt to further subsidize higher education...Has Obama thought deeply about the problem of the higher education bubble? Has he considered that for decades the federal government has been subsidizing college and graduate work (through grants and loans) and that as a consequence, institutions of higher learning have been jacking up their fees?....

During that same 1997-2007 decade that home prices increased by 68 percent and created a housing bubble, college tuition and fees rose even higher -- by 83 percent. In fact, college tuition and fees have never increased by less than 73 percent in any ten-year period back to the 1980s. And in the decades ending in 2009 and 2010, college tuition increased by more than 90 percent. The still-inflating increases in the price of higher education are starting to make the housing bubble look pretty tame by comparison."

Obama seeks to forestall this commonsense solution by once again increasing government subsidies. Student loans, courtesy of Obama, can now be "forgiven" after 20 years of payment, or after 10 years if students choose "public service." Who pays the difference? You know who.

In addition to suggesting that tuition be reduced, a panel appointed by Governor Perry suggested that professors were "wasting time and money churning out esoteric, unproductive research."

Earlier this year the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) took the unprecedented action of telling a company that it cannot open a new factory in South Carolina.  Never mind that Boeing had spent more than one billion dollars on a plant that was going to create 1,000 new jobs....Airbus cheers as our own federal government stops an American company from hiring American workers and producing goods in the U.S.    But Obama’s hand-chosen regulators at NLRB are not happy with just going after Boeing; they want to disrupt all U.S. employers.....Our nation’s economy is too important to let it be ruined by a well-meaning but misguided Administration, which does not understand that employers create jobs – not unions.

WE NEED AN AMERICAN POLL, THAT ASKS "WHAT WOULD YOU DO?", AND GETS SPECIFIC.  WOULD YOU REDUCE GOVERNMENT WASTE TO THE TUNE OF $9TRILLION, cut taxes(so less taxes are going in towards it all), TAKE MORE from MEDICARE AND SOCIAL SECURITY, or reduce federal waste to the tune of $9Trillion, ++?

   DUPED AGAIN:  NOW, WE HAVE OBAMA COMMITTEE, WITH NO REQUIREMENT FOR ANYTHING TO BE VOTED ON BY SENATE OR HOUSE.  DUPED AGAIN                                                                        Obama, who has long bemoaned a Congress that is unwilling to make the difficult choices, will make the choices for them, and let them take it or leave it.

The Super Committee is not required to accept Obama's proposals — and indeed he was specifically cut out of the process when the group was created.

President Barack Obama's approval rating on the economy dropped to a new low today — with the latest Gallup poll showing just 26 percent of Americans are happy with his handling on the economy.

It was a drop of 11 percentage points since May, and down from 59 percent at the start of his presidency. A majority of voters have not approved of Obama's leadership on the issue since the middle of 2009.

By Ros  Krasny                                                                              BEDFORD, New Hampshire – Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry Wednesday called for more transparency from the Federal Reserve to show that the central bank was not engaging in unspecified "improper“ actions....Looks to me that Perry is not going to let up, but may "temper" his words slightly, in what it looks like is going to be a major campaign direction.                                                                          

I think it is a sad day, indeed, that our PRESIDENT did not order this bus and the one that is yet to be delivered, from an American company.  You know, made by employing American workers, that contribute TAXES from their paychecks to our $14Trillion deficit.  That bolsters the United States economy.  Is this $2.2 Million dollar order funded by the STIMULUS PLAN, OR does it come from GENERAL TAX REVENUE, or the SLUSH FUND from SOCIAL SECURITY?  Oh, well.  maybe it was his birthday present from all Americans.  After all, it was his to spend anyway he saw fit...   How much sales tax COULD HAVE COME FROM THIS?   Oh, no sales tax on Government purchases.  Except, perhaps, if buying from Canada??????
